Every week I walk around the bulky waste in my neighbourhood in Amsterdam to ‘save’ usable items and materials from being destroyed. From the leather of old sofas, I make eyeglass cases.
Glasses case made of wasted leather
From the leather of old sofas, I make eyeglass cases in different types and colors of leather. I used wooden bars (also found in the trash) for the connecting pin (the ´nose´). The string is made of recycled cotton.
I want to show that the leather is still very beautiful and usable, and that it is a shame to throw it away.
