MAKE IT COUNT LABEL

MAKE IT COUNT LABEL is an add-on clothing label that stimulates people to wear clothes more often and raises awareness about fashion sustainability.

Count how often you wear your clothing

MAKE IT COUNT LABEL is a label that can be attached onto your clothes. Each time you wear an item, you can indicate this on the label by checking one box. Over time the label gives you more insight into your dressing behavior (your favorite picks) and the clothing quality after several wears. This will help you make better buying choices in the future.

Be (also) proud of second-hand clothing and make it visible

In addition, the label has another function: Clothing items that wouldn´t be the best sustainable choice, can be a very sustainable second-hand option. With MAKE IT COUNT LABEL you can show others your garment is second-hand and a well-considered choice.

I came up with this idea through conversations with my boyfriend Jeffrey Ridder. Jeffrey likes to buy a small number of clothes from brands with a sustainable image. I asked him why he didn’t want to consider wearing second-hand clothes from brands with a less sustainable image, because this can also be a sustainable choice. He indicated that he doesn’t like to ´promote´ wearing less sustainable brands, because others won’t see that the garment is second-hand. This gave rise to the idea of making it visible that clothes are second-hand.

First editions of MAKE IT COUNT LABEL available

Jeffrey motivated me to shape the idea and realize it. This resulted in the first small editions of MAKE IT COUNT LABEL´s that can be sewn or ironed onto clothing garments. Together we presented and sold the first labels at local markets in Amsterdam.

Join the movement and try to wear your clothes often

With MAKE IT COUNT LABEL we want to start a movement: Let’s be proud of clothes that have been worn a lot! The label might challenge you to wear clothing more often and inspire others to do the same.

Future plans for MAKE IT COUNT LABEL

After testing and selling the first labels on local markets, we now want to want to develop this idea further and are also looking for clothing stores and brands that are interested in the labels. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
